Your question was a little vague -- is this an at work thing? I guess what I am asking is: Why are you around this person so much? Is it at work -- that's what it does sound like.

If it is work... I'd just tell them "I'm sorry but I can't talk right now.. I'm busy"

OR... carry a book around at all times... if you're reading, most people are kind enough to leave you alone... (a trick I learned for some situations). May I suggest The Da Vinci Code :-)

Also -- are they talking about rude things or are they being very prideful?
