Dell support has been a joke for at least the last year and a half, I don't recommend Dell to anyone not getting business support.

Gateways use standard parts also, unless you get one of their oddball form factors, which every OEM has at least one.

An HP with an Athlon XP, Sempron or Athlon 64 or FX would be a decent system. Avoid HP's with Celeron's, really cheap systems.
