Microsoft has announced a recall of more than 14 million power cords for its popular Xbox videogame console due to potential fire hazard risks. The company said fewer than one in ten thousand of the Xbox consoles have the problem, and that only thirty customers have reported fire damage.
The recall affects Xboxes manufactured in the US before Oct. 23, 2003. Overall it affects about 70 percent of the approximately 20 million consoles sold since the unit debuted in 2001.Microsoft recommends that until a new power cord is delivered, Xbox users turn off their game players while not in use.
