This is true, but pretty much all of the new buildings were funded from donations given to the university for that specific purpose. Case and point the new chemistry building on the far corner of the engineering side of campus. That money came from Richard Shelby, and talk is he will be giving a lot more for the engineering dept.

Look around. Facilities. One building was built in the 7 years I went to UA. I graduated 11 years ago, and there are so many new buildings there now that I barely recognize the place. Associate professors are fleeing because they don't get paid enough, academic programs have been cancelled, etc., but there soon won't be a bare spot of ground left on campus. |
