If the computer doesn't have any files to be saved, then bit the bullet and reinstall Windows. If you have a ready made PC like Dell or HP, then you should have a set of Recovery CD's that came with it. Put in the operating system disk, and reboot the PC. The computer should boot from the CD and take you into the setup. Just make sure you do the full install, not the Windows over Windows mess. I have never been a fan of that since there are often problems that arise afterward. Holler if any of this helps you out! |

If you choose to go this route, I would also like to suggest formatting the hard drive so that you start off on a clean slate. I would be very hesitant to reinstall Windows over the current setup. I would be afraid it may retain the corrupt file causing the problem and cause even more problems down the road. I just had to reinstall Windows XP Pro on a notebook for just that reason. The Service Pack 2 update had a bad install. I just started completely over and reloaded everything.
