Sounds like you have an old pc that someone has installed Windows 2000 pro on. Windows 2000 will usually create a folder called NT to install itself. W2K is horrible so far as drivers go. It probably doesn't have the driver for the usb hard drive. If you got a disk with the new hard drive use that. It should have the drivers on it.

So far as the xp disk is concerned 1.37GB isn't enough disk space to install it. In fact W2K pro is probably using almost all of it. My advice would be to install Windows ME on the computer. It uses less disk space, has better driver support (it will probably recognize your external hard drive without a problem), is still supported by Microsoft, and I'm sure it would run faster on that pc.
