Dixie Youth Softball Tournament in Greensboro

Demopolis and Linden 11-12 yr old Allstars met in Greensboro this weekend in the District Tournament...First game was 2-1 with Demopolis winning and second game was 10-2 with Linden winning. I would like to be the first to say what terrific athletes both of our towns are so lucky to have. Those two games were two of the best softball games I have seen in a long time and my hat is off to all the girls...GOOD JOB GIRLS!!!
Linden goes on to play Butler tonight at 7:00. (Linden has to win tonight to stay in it and Butler is un-defeated) If Linden wins tonight then the two will play one more time for the Championship. If Butler wins tonight then they go to state as the District Champs. Should be a great game.
If you see any summer league allstar softball players from Linden or Demopoilis any time soon, give them a pat on the back and tell them to keep up the good work. They deserve it.

Had a rain out last night so the 11-12 yr old game with Butler/ Linden will hopefull be tonight at 6:00 weather permitting. Linden sure could use some encouragement in the stands...this will be a really hard game. Ya'll come out and support your local team!!
The Butler fans are well known for their obnoxious fans in the stands that try to "rattle" the other team rather than just let the girls play their game. I hope this year will be different but at any rate, Linden needs all the support they can get...

I stand corrected...since Gilbertown and Butler split and we have now played Butler I can honestly say that the fans I referred to in my original post that act so ugly in the stands were from Gilbertown and not from Butler. Linden played Butler last night and both crowds acted fine. Congratulations to Butler for their win of 3 to 0 against Linden and for winning the District 8 championship for the 9 & 10 and 11 & 12 year old age groups. Congratulations to Demopolis for winning the championship in the 7-8 age group. The 13-15 age group is still playing.
