Access to attachment

Can someone tell me if there is a way to get something that outlook express has removed my access to. My accountants office has tried to send me some info but Outlook express says they have removed my access to this unsafe attachment. Help Please!

yes. try this.

1. Start Outlook Express.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click the Security tab, click to clear the Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus check box under Virus Protection, and then click OK.

Thanks Ranger, that is great. It listed several places to receive the document and I chose works and now works says I can't have it. Any more ideas?

Yes, It allowed me to download to one of several places and I chose Microsoft Works. When that came up it said it was unsafe and couldn't open.

Sorry I don't know what you are talking about. I saved it to my documents and then to open in microsoft works. Everything is fine until it gets to works and then it says it can't open because it may be unsafe. I can't figure out how to go back to where it asked the question about where to open the file. Maybe it would open somewhere else. Thanks for trying to help me.

He's asking what type of file. The extension is what's at the end of the file (animal.jpg - .jpg is the extension). If works refuses to open it, it's probably a .pps or something with macros enabled, which do pose a security risk.

If you are sure your source is good, (and it's a .pps, or power point slideshow), then you can save the attachment to your hard drive, then open it with power point, or use the free viewer if you don't have that installed.
