Thieves On The Loose
Last night in the canal heights area there was money and credit cards stolen out of peoples cars. It seems the person went house to house until they found a vehicle that was unlocked. This happened between 11:30 p.m. to around 7:00a.m. One person was told about it and thought,just let me check my car and when she did she realized her stuff was gone.Please be on the watch, it is only going to get worse as christmas gets closer!

Demopolis use to be one of those quaint little towns where no worries and you didn't have to lock your car or house at night. Not any more and that is a shame. I hope they catch them.

No place is ammune anymore....
We have to watch our neighbors property as well as own....
If my neighbors see anything suspecious....they tell me...I do the same.
I hope they catch the badguys....
I'm surprised a car alarm didn't go off...if they grabbed door handles....

Thanks for the warning. You get used to the convenience of leaving your keys and things in your car and don't think about bad things happening! Upon reading this my husband went out and locked up! Thanks again!

Thanks for the info! It is really sad that things like this happen. Just a week or so ago a house was broken into, someone was going around stealing reel and rods out of peoples boats and now this! What is Demopolis coming to?? And how come these people are never caught??

The same thing happened on Edgewood Drive(across from the BP on 43) Saturday night. Just seemed to go car to car to see if they were unlocked and got whatever they could find. They hit about half of the neighborhood, whether it was just pocket change laying around or something of good worth, they took it. Sounds like the same people to me.

Heck, we had a crack head steal things out of our garage during the day only to come back later that nite and get some more. I was quite impressed with the policeman that came to our house that day. He is actually the one that caught the crack head later that night walking down the street with our brand new chain saw under his arm. Kudos for the police!

It's really sad when people have to go from car to car until they find one with something good in it. Plus, in my opinion these people are really brave. Anybody could have come out of their house at any time.
I live in the country and I have always locked my car no matter if it has anything in it or not. It's really a habit.
I hope they catch the person or persons that have done this.

It's things like this is why I NEVER leave my vehicle unlocked, even in my own front yard! I have always locked my vehicle when away from it and religiously take things of value and place them out of sight or completely remove them from the vehicle when it is unattended.
I also have made it known I shoot thieves on sight.

I am just glad they are not breaking into everyones house in the neighborhoodlike the cars. Just imagine waking up to find someone in your house or the next morning finding out someone came right on into your house. Now that would freak me out. Knock On Wood. I hope that does not happen!!!!!

My car was hit at our house on Edgewood Sat night. They hit around 6-8 houses. They stole everything from money, beer, debit cards, pistols.

Sorry to hear that LPL and to all the other's who had things stolen. I lived in B'ham most of my life, then Demopolis, and then Fort Worth for three years, so I have always locked my doors. Even here in Wedowee I always lock my doors, house and cars. I hope that they will catch these people soon. Maybe some areas need to start a neighborhood watch or something.
