COTR Lights in City Park

A while back some members were asking why there were no longer lights in the Demopolis City Park during COTR and Christmas. For those who are concerned about this situation you may be part of the remedy. The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce has obtained lights for the park and needs help in putting them up. Anyone desiring to see the lights back up please call Kelley Smith at the Chamber and tell her you want to help. I don't know if she is organizing a set day and time to do the project or if people just do what they can when they can. This is a volunteer driven project. I asked about ladders and she stated she may be able to borrow some from the city or other sources but it would be helpful if volunteers would bring their own.

This is great news! Are the clubs involved that used to be so valuable to the community functions---such as Key Club, Interact, etc. Just a thought as they may already be involved.

I'm sure that the Boy Scouts would be more than glad to help. You could also contact local churches to see if any youth groups would be interested.

I also need help with the night parade floats if anyone is interested they can come by the warehouse behind the old pd.or call Pat or Kelly at the Chamber.

Is COTR going to be Dec 1 or 8 this year?

COTR main day and night is always the first Saturday in December. Activities start the Sunday before with an event every day or night of that week. Check the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce website for the list of events.

That would be me..I'm the one that posted wondering where all the lights went. I'm in for putting up lights. I'm glad you all posted, I didn't know who to talk to or where to go.

I believe COTR starts on the 25th and ends on the 1st.

Read post 1 of this thread for information on helping to put up the lights in the city park. The only way the will be back up is for people to volunteer to help.

Last I knew Boy Scout Troop 41 meets at the Methodist Church on Strawberry Street. Someone at the church should be able to tell you who to get in touch with.

You can probably get to the boy scouts through either Sam Fish or Jim Ellis, both are scout leaders with troup 41.
