Home Warentee - Not Living Up to Contract

We have been without heat for over a week - have had frozen pipes and trying to survive in a house with no heat - bought a warentee with the house - called them last Monday - they said they would contact a Heating Specialist and have them come - they gave a name - no contact from Heating Specialist for several hours - my husband contacted them and they had not gotten a work order - then he called again later in the day and they said they would be here in Demopolis the next morning - husband called next morning to confirm - they said an employee was out sick and it would be Wed before they could get here (day 3), then when the guy did come he said our "board" was out and had his company order one - would be in Sat - nothing Sat - called Monday - they 'can't do anything until Warentee authorizes purchase - this has been a week - then Warentee company says they have not heard from contractor and oh well - thinking of going to local news station to see if they can help - we are frozen in this house, had frozen water pipes and can't function - does anyone have any "constructive suggestions" or know a person who works at the local news station (Montgomery, etc.) that would be interested - I am freezing and getting sick.

I wouldn't go to the media yet...I'd threaten them with a lawyer and then see how fast it takes them to "authorize the purchase."

That is the same story with EVERY service call. Hurry up and wait !!
As long as it's not THEIR home and THEIR pipes.....they don't care. They will string you along until they get around to it.

If you don't keep at them....they will forget about you.

Thanks - I came to work sick this morning from being so cold - I think it is the Elite HVAC that has been assigned the work order in Selma...why they had someone in Selma I will never know.

I was thinking of calling someone local to fix it but my husband said he put alot of time and effort in this and wants the Warentee Company to fix it - we shall see....

I would have called Anderson Plumbing and Heating after the first run-a-round and had them come fix it and and sent the warrenty co the bill, if they refused to pay I would then sued the hell out of them. We have had some dangerous cold weather.

I wanted to but it said in the Warentee papers we have to call them and they provide the service - if we call someone we are responsible for the bill - I don't know how much this part and the service call are going to be - We asked them to call local business but they refused - aparently the locals don't want to do Warentee work - at least that was their input.

In the meantime even my bones are cold and I am getting really sick...but still at work!

that is just ridiculous!! With as cold as it has gotten lately it is no wonder you are sick and down right wrong of them to allow this to go on this long! do you not have ANY heat at your house?? I agree with UWA Amanda.. the media spill may make you feel better but calling and letting them know that you are COLD and have gotten SICK from this LONG wait and that if it continuous, you will be talking with your lawyers and sending them the Doctor's BILLS may work BETTER and FASTER! We have a gas fireplace in the front room, doesn't put much heat out....

no it doesn't put out enough heat! especially when you're trying to take a SHOWER on the other side of the house! I will be praying for you and your family!

Thanks, we can use all the prayers we can get..it has been a heck of a year so far, first thing my husband's truck went out on him, then the house insurance company decided they don't want to underwrite any insurance in our area so we need to get different insurance - then the heater went out over a week ago and we are fighting with them...they say it comes in 3's...

Update - my husband contacted the Warentee Company again and they said the company in Selma would contact them with status - I have been advised to go through the BBB and file a complaint - I found the web site and did such - I also got a report on the Homesure of America and found out they have a company rating of C+.
Will keep everyone posted - hope heat is on the way soon!

Have local business working on it - even the Warentee Company got upset with the Selma techs - anyway there is hope - might be a day or two I think...will keep you posted.

I would keep all of my documentation of all the calls,,,if you paid for the extra warranty I would ask for every penny back, and hire a lawyer if nessesary to get it back! I know calling for a local service contractor can be expensive, especially when these things happen at the worst times but they will work with you on your bill plus we need to keep these local guys in businness anyhow.

Week two - still no heat - had to stay home from work on Friday because I was so sick, it hurts to take a breath. Won't use fireplace any more as our gas bill will be too high as it is....maybe heat next week...
