Run Windows and Mac OS both at once

Quote:
Only a week ago, Apple Computer released what seemed like an astonishing piece of software called Boot Camp. This program radically rewrote the rules of Macintosh-Windows warfare--by letting you run Windows XP on a Macintosh at full speed. - LINK

Thought some of you computer guys might be interested in this. But I am confused. I thought that there was something about Big Indians and Little Indians that made them incompatible. Did the Big Indians kill the Little Indians?

It is only true with the very latest Macs that are using the Intel chips. I wish it was true for my older Macs.

Re: Run Windows and Mac OS both at once

Well, you can run a virtual machine on yours and boot XP inside of Mac OS X.

The latest Apple PC's are nothing more than standard PC's modified, just like Dell and Gateway do, but run an x86 compatible version of Mac OS, I think a version of OS X.

Just that little bit seems more like a step towards the Mac demise if you ask me. Part of the benefit of the Mac systems was the massive FPU, totally legacy free hardware, etc... now that is gone. Might help with the cost to build the boxes, but I doubt Apple will send the savings on to the customer.

I am afraid it is the final "Bow down" but don't underestimate Steve Jobs. He is one "wiley" character. Somewhere along this line called time there has got to be a consolidation for operating systems and maybe we are headed in that direction. I probably won't live to see it but you (oldman) might.

This is a good reason why Apple, Inc. is having to push Microsoft products on their machines.

Missed the point! M'soft stock has been stagnant for some time but Apple has had a significant run.

Maybe the last five years have been kinda stag for MS but Apple still has a long ways to go to get up to MS in the long run. Do you really think that MS will let Apple get that close to them in the competition? I also believe this next big OS (Vista) from Microsoft will put them up in a big way......as long as it doesn't go like the Windows ME release; lol!
