The Demopolis Tigers got all they wanted out of Ashford Friday night. The mud on the field aided the Yellowjacket’s defense. Dontrell Miller’s interception in the 4th quarter was the nail in Ashford’s coffin as the Tigers pulled away and won 35-22. Demopolis had 193 rushing yards on 36 attempts, with Rembert gaining 109 of them on 19 carries. They were 8-11 with 103 yards passing with one interception. Ashford tallied up 326 total yards on the Tigers, but 3 turnovers kept them from scoring more than they did. It will be gut check time this Friday as out Tigers travel to Montgomery to face the Trinity Wildcats. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
In other news…Marengo Academy whipped Wilcox Academy 42-6 to earn a trip to the AISA 2A state Championship in Troy, AL this Friday. Kickoff time TBA. Congratulations Longhorns! Someone tell me if M.A. changed their team name from the Longhorns to the Wildcats as the Demopolis times would have you believe.
Congratulations to Davalon Bryant as this year’s Special Child for COTR. Bryant is 11 years old, and attends Paramount Junior High School. He has had Triad Syndrome his whole young life; a disease that leaves you at birth without abdominal muscles and serious and usually fatal urinary tract abnormalities. Bryant has defied logic and science to survive and should lead a pretty normal life. Bryant will be present at the crowning of St. Nicholas and will ride on a float in the Children’s Day Parade.
