With nothing else left to say apparently, Goodloe Sutton doesn’t mention the mayor or “illegal acts” in the Linden City Council in this weeks Democrat-Reporter. Did someone finally set him straight on the matter? Stickman and myself discussed sending in a letter to the D-R to inform him of his misrepresentation of the Code of Alabama. At Linden’s Monday council meeting, Linden City Attorney Alex Braswell stated “The City of Linden is under Section 11-43, Class A of the Alabama Code – not class D as the paper (Democrat) reported, which applies to a municipality with a larger population.” This was discovered and reported by Randy (registered member) HERE on May 30th. The Mayor of Linden wasn’t at Monday’s council meeting, perhaps learning beforehand what the city attorney was going to address. He did however write his usual column in the D-R, encouraging Linden citizens to attend council meetings. One quote from his column I felt telling: “Don’t believe everything you read or hear.”
On a related topic, Linden Police Chief Jeff Laduron was commended by the FBI for his work on the Preston Bowden case. Goodloe prints his picture with the FBI on page 10, just past the want ads. Goodloe’s dislike for Laduron can be traced to Mayor Pat Vice, who tangled with Laduron over an issue involving police officers talking to city councilmen. Soon after, the council voted to strip Vice of his hiring and firing powers, and Sutton made it his personal crusade to get his friend’s powers back.
In other news… - “Tootie” look alike Thedford Rowser is still talking crazy as her trial on charges of practicing law without a degree starts up. Rowser now contends that her attorney and D.A. Griggers are conspiring against her, so she wants a new attorney. After discussion, which was mostly outbursts from Rowser, her motion was granted. Any takers on this one?
- Charles Nabors is still crying about uncompensated care. Though he doesn’t seem to mention the lawsuit anymore, he still refers to uncompensated care as “indigent care”, which in most cases false and very misleading. Nabors states folks eligible for government assistance such as “All Kids” and Medicaid are “reluctant to admit they are poor enough to qualify”. And apparently reluctant to pay their bills also. Board Chairman Dr. Fitz-Gerald admits the hospital can’t staff the ER with physicians properly, especially on the midnight shift.
