Re: Tropical Depression Number 3

I couldn't believe it when I saw the new projected path this morning! I thought we wouldn't have to worry about this one. I pray it doesn't come our way. The gulf coast of Mississippi is still in horrible shape. I pray it doesn't go there either. But there is not really a good place for it to go. Somebody's going to get hit, and it looks like Chris will be a hurricane. Does it seem like a large proportion of these storms have been hitting the Gulf for the past few years? About 10 years back, it seemed like the Carolinas were always hit.

Let's pray for those will inevitably get hit, for those who will be called up for service to repair those places, and especially that this thing doesn't come anywhere Marengo County.

GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ROLL TIDE ROLL!

This is NOAA's five day storm track predictions. This isn't looking good for Florida, but maybe it will stay compact and not even touch them. A good site for exact wind speeds and probability charts is http://www.nhc.noaa.gov; these are the guys that get in the storms and track them.

Re: Tropical Depression Number 3

I hope it doesn't get too bad, but honestly, I hope it comes directly for us. We could use a good 2 days of steady rain.

The its so dry here I've got trees that are starting to die back. The corn crops in Fayette are about 2-3 ft tall. This year is pretty much a loss, but the sheer amount of trees looking bad is just suprising.

All of the computer models are predicting Gulf entry but they don't usually intensify into major storms this early in the season. Like you said, Oldman, It could be a little salvation.

I hope it doesn't come this way. I have not had my roof fixed from the last one.

Hurricane Dennis made landfall with 105 MPH sustained winds. It's intensity varied considerably while in the Caribbean but the area of the gulf that it traversed prior to landfall is cooler than most areas (water temp) so it de-intensified. Never know but the averages and climitological conditions favor us Now but not for long!

We need rain, but not the way a hurricane brings it! Hopefully, we will miss the destruction and get the rain.
