I have never cooked deer tenderloin and am looking for a good recipe. Anyone got one for me?

Re: Deer Loin

You can also cut into thin strips saute with onions and garlic, then add mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup and serve over rice.

Re: Deer Loin

both of those sound great but here's another just in case:

cut into strips, batter with flour, fry in pan

serve with tomato gravy and rice OR mashed potatoes and green beens... Also, if you do chose to use this recipe, don't forget to let me know what time to come over and eat

Re: Deer Loin

My deer meat is always too tough. How do I get it tender?

Re: Deer Loin

You can soak for a couple days in a heavy salt water solution. Rinse with tap water. Use a meat hammer to help tenderize the meat. Sprinkle liberally with Steak dust and carib grill seasoning Marinate over night with A-1's new york steak marinade (just enough to) dampen the meat to allow the aforementioned dry ingredients to stick. grill about 4-5 minutes per side over hot coals.

Frying in the skillet with flour batter is also very good.

The cardinal sin is over cooking which is very easy to do.

Enjoy.

Re: Deer Loin

If you cook deer meat too fast it will be tough, if you do not get all the white stuff off the meat along with the slimy stuff if will make it tough. I have never had to soak my meat to make it tender. But it also helps to cut across the grain of the meat and to pound it for toughier cuts of meat.
