The story about the lower pool is the boy was killed trying to raid a big poker game at a camp house in Greene Co. He was shot as he entered. The girl was found later at the lower pool with gun shot wounds and was assumed she commited suicide, but alot of talk at that time was she was killed to cover up what happened in Greene Co. To my knowledge no one has hung thereselves in that area for the last 25 years or so. There has been stories about seeing her at the lower pool sitting on her knees crying and appears to be begging for forgiveness.

The hanging tree is still there. Its at the end of lower pool road on the right hand side of the road pretty close to the river. Next to the old gandy ferry landing. There are also sunken places in the ground like old graves that have caved in.This is for the VERY brave only. For a spooky trip park your car after pitch black dark at the archery range. If you have the nerve walk to the end of the dirt road without a flash light. Don't go to the lower pool go straight the way others before you went to cross the gandy ferry over to sumter county. Dont look back while walking down the road or you won't see whats at the end of the road they will know your comming. If you make it to the end of the road without looking back walk up in the woods to the right up a slinder bank to the hanging tree. Look up into the tree and you will see a misty figure glowing under the big limb. When you see it dont stare at it or you won't see the others gathered around. Close your eyes and start counting to ten. If you keep your eyes closed you will feel one or two things. Sometimes its a cool chill on the back of your neck. Sometimes its like hot breath comming up from the river. Whatever you do don't panic. These are the spirits of the river and they won't hurt you. Unless!!!

There are many spirits here in Demopolis. We are so used to looking at the things that we can see that our eyes are not always trained to look across to the rhelm of the spirit world. You can train your eyes. It takes practice and a lot of nerve. When you look at any fixed object something that has been around for awhile don't look at it look just behind it. It takes practice but if you stare long enough you can see what others can't see. It won't work on all fixed object that you stare at but keep looking and you will eventually see something. When you see that something don't move just freeze and watch it untill it fades away and remember exactly what you see and the surroundings. Sometimes you will see things from the past. Like the old cotton wagon full of cotton with two mules tied up to the wall of the old stable in demopolis. It's in the ally behind the that old restraunt downtown behind community bank. If you see it don't go between the wagon and mules or you will be standing in blood.

I've got one for ya... I was about 15, sitting in the recliner, whippin *** on Street Fighter 2 Turbo, all by myself.
I see someone out of the corner of my eye standing in the hallway. Tall, pretty big, dark suit, dark hat, something like 50's business suit.
I dropped the controller, flew out of the chair and he was gone.

About two weeks later we were going through my grandparents family album, I saw him.

It was my great grandfather before he shrank from old age.

It was the same suit he wore to church, or same style. I never saw it. It was his "city clothes" for an important occasion. That made me feel better, but at the time my blood ran cold.
Its kinda funny watching someone vanish...
