Ranger 007, here's a sampling of West Alabama ghosts:
Tuscaloosa County:
1.) The Little Round House by Gorgas Library on the UA campus - drunk Yankees bumble around looking for whisky for eternity.
2.) Smith Hall on the UA campus - a dead professor leads elementary school children through the natural history museum every night.
3.) Old Bryce Hospital - Not enough that it housed most of Alabama's insane people for years...they did MEDICAL experiments on them! VERY creepy place.
4.) The Old Drish House on 17th Street - Old Mrs. Drish requested that her niece burn specific candles when her body lay in state at her death. The lazy niece didn't do it. So, so Old Mrs. Drish burns them herself...and the ghostly lights make the cupola of the house seem on fire.
Sumter County –
1.) Frat Houses – both the Teke house and the Delta Chi house are supposed to be haunted.
2.) The Bridge in Boyd – I can’t remember exactly where the bridge is, but it is on a dirt county road somewhere out in the country, and anyone around Boyd can probably direct you there. Huge scary old bridge. I’ve heard a couple of stories about why its haunted, including a bride and groom wrecked there carriage on the bridge and wander around looking for each other, and that some crazy man living under the bridge used to ambush carriages and kill the occupants. Drive on the bridge, park, and turn out the light. It is always very cool, and you WILL hear strange things.
3.) The Upchurch House in Livingston – a woman in white can be seen in the yard. She doesn’t seem out of place at first, until you realize that she is wearing rather old fashioned clothes. When you look back, she’s gone.
That’s at least a start. I’ll see what more I can dredge up. I have boxes and boxes of southern stories and folktales. Ever heard of the devil possum of Green County????
Oh how we danced and we swallowed the nights for it was all ripe for dreaming
Oh how we danced away all of the lights we've always been out of our minds
Been to the haunted bridge before, you can't drive on it anymore. It's definitly used to be worth the trip. What about Gainswood and that house on Jackson St. near Strawberry St.?Then you have the abandoned graveyards in Faunsdale,Port Epes, and I think there are one or two in Linden.
Plus,I know I saw something at Hangman's tree on more than one night. On one of those nights it looked like something running around the base of the tree. Not sure what it was because as soon as I saw it I was on my way out of there.

You have to be Kathy Leverett and be willing to tell a tale about seeing a ghost.
If you do take some ghost tours, take your camera. Turn your flash off and use a tripod for the best result (if it's at night).

Seriously doubt that you could stay in either Bluff Hall or Gaineswood. And I've NEVER heard of Bluff Hall being haunted until this little "thing" with Kathy.
