Some voter turnout statistics:
In the last 3 elections, the most votors turned out in 1996, with 3001 vopting in the general election, and 3240 voting in the runoff. The least amount came in 2000, with 2318 voting.
Indidcations this year, due to the high amount of undecided votors, is we'll have a low turnout. If we can manage 2500 at the polls, based on previous polls done here and at the Times, the election will look something like this:
Cecil Williamson: 650 votes
Ben Sherrod: 325 votes
Mike Grayson: 225 votes
Stephen Gutshall: 300 votes
Mitchell Congress: 150 votes
Ed Key: 75 votes
My predition: A runoff is inevitable. Voter turnout will be key to whomever wins. If I were in the running, I would wake up at 6:30 Tues. morning and personally have a "voter taxi" service, where I pick up as many potential voters as I can throughout the day and take them to the polls. I truely believe 350 votes gets you into a runoff.
