If the majority (%) of Demopolis voted the same way the majority of Demopolis Live members voted then how the heck did this woman ever get elected into office?
It's called sample size. We only have 92 votes. Compare that to the number of people that live in Demopolis. DemopolisLive is an extremely small sample and distinct group of people (have a computer, have internet access, understand how message boards work) that make up the entire City of Demopolis.
This is a poll for the people on DemopolisLive, not to show how the entire city feels about the current mayor.
I wish that more people were on the site. It is a great place to share opinions on current important issues, anonymously if you wish, and have people actually read/hear what you say.

If I remember correctly, in the polls we did prior to last election, the DLive votes pretty much went in line with the actual election results.
This time around, I think the outcome would be different. Just by word of mouth, I can tell Williamson still has support in the black community. She pulled around 40% of the white vote in 04, along with around 85% of the black vote. I believe now she is looking at around 10% of the white vote, vs the same in the black vote. Now, judging by the Demopolis demographic, Williamson would almost be a shoe-in for a runoff, but would end up losing the election. The worst thing she could have face her is another popular black candidate in the primary--which would effectively split her votes and possible knock her out of a runoff.
Mike Grayson, IMO, would win the election if he decides to run again. I would support him if he did.

I was remembering the Petrey for Coroner poll. Everyone here voted for him, but he unfortunately was defeated basically by individual laziness in checking a straight-party ticket.

Amen Brother! I would hope that anyone with a conscience would not vote for her no matter the color of their skin after proving how dishonest she actually is. Or any of the city councilmen for that matter who have proved their dishonesty through their actions in dealing with the hiring of Mr. Few. The way this was handled was something we all need to think about before we just vote for so and so cause he's the one I always vote for. We also need to be praying God will raise up honest men or women who are willing to put their time and back bone into city business. After what we have gone through it's very important to get involved in our city government. I've had many tell me since the meeting that they wished they had known they would have been there. Not that it would have made that much of a difference. We were not even recognized by our Mayor or city council while they were in session for question we had that we wanted answered and even after we ask after the meeting there was no answer except "we did what we felt best for the city". In essence we did what we wanted to do no matter what you people wanted.
I too will vote for Mike Grayson. I will do all in my power to help him get elected. If he will run.

The great thing about city elections, if I'm not mistaken, is you do not have to claim a political party so there is no staight-party voting!
Who do yall think will run?? I belive Cecil wont run again. I think Jack Cooley, Thomas Moore and Maybe Chris Petrey. I wish Stickman was living here so he could run.
Dan Wilson would make a great Mayor for our city, he owns colony office supplies in downtown. I told him last week that he would be a good Mayor that is if Cecil does not run. Cecil will have my vote.

I've know Dan for over 30 years...I don't think he would really want to get into politics. He enjoys keeping people happy. Politicians don't ever have the luxury of keeping everyone happy. Although I agree with you, Dan has a charming personality that most of our politicians seriously lack.
The will of God prevails. In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, but one must be, wrong. - Abraham Lincoln, 1862
