According to the Times, Blue Ridge Capital LLC has entered into a contract to purchase the current Wal-Mart property. This property went on the market after Wal-mart announced they would be building a new SuperCenter here in Demopolis.
So far, no one seems to know what Blue Ridge has in store for the building. They've told the Times "We are exploring our alternatives," McPhail wrote, "but nothing in the works yet." Of course, this is what Wal-Mart told the Times when they asked about the SuperCenter, when they in fact had already decided to build one.
So, what's going into the old building? I'm not convinced they don't already have an investor lined up.

"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin--real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."

Well we have a Goody's here and it's a great store. We love it.
We don't have one in Demopolis but it would be great if we did. I also love that store. You can get some of the same clothes there that you can at other pricey stores( I won't name names) for a lot cheaper. Same quality, just a better price.
I would love a Goody's but a Lowe's or Home Depot would be great too. I think the guys would much rather have one those.
I am sure that they would but they already have Marvins, We don't have a place like Goody's though. All we have is Wal-mart and Cato's and half the time you can't get what you are looking for. Let's hope for a clothing store and then we can start hoping for them another hardware store!! LOL
Build a Hooters! Hot Wings, Cold Beer, NASCAR, and Football!!
Alas..that would be quite difficult. I looked into a Hooter's for Meridian, but a franchise was not available. If you couldn't open one there, I doubt Demopolis would be able to get one. I know...depressing, huh?
As for the old Wal-Mart building, in several cities, Big Lots has bought the building and opened a store. I wonder how long everyone will have to wait to find out what the developer is going to do with it. :dunno:
