With most leaders in agreement that the best way to prosper in a town is have better roads coming to it, which highway should get the green-light to 4-lane first?

I voted for 43- There are so many towns that could benefit from turning this backroad into a highway.

HAve any of yall ever been goin to Meridian and got in the hilly area behind someone goin 30 mph? It might just be me because we use to travel to Missisipi alot but it isn't fun. Go ahead and do both!
No offense, but who wants to go to Montgomery or Meridian compared to Memphis or the coast? I've been to all & 43 by far should be the first. Watch out for the the cops on the southern end of 43, right before Saraland. I was transporting a NEONATE, (code 2, I know, I know, but it was 3am, do you think the people that live on/near the hwy want to hear code 3 at that time?), to USA Children & Women's & this guy had the kahunas to flash his strobes at me!!!
My biggest problem with the whole 4-laning issue is timing. I REALLY want to see 43 get 4 laned all the way across the state. The only thing is....how long will it take? I remember the small 4 laning project for HWY 80 in Demopolis that spaned roughly from Wal-mart to the Rooster bridge. The span of about 15 miles took about 10 years. Now figuring the span of 43 from Memphis to Mobile is at least 400 miles or so.. that would put the project to last 267 years at that rate! So.....what kind of timing will the state be able to offer?? I really don't think we can look forward to hitting new 43 blacktop anytime soon. My prediction is that it will get put on the back-burner until someone needs or wants to get elected, then the issue will come back up. That's one thing about Alabama that I love. Every election that rolls around, city or state, you are bound to start seeing a ton of roads getting re-paved!
I voted for 4-laning US Hwy 43. Reason being, much of it is already 4-lane (Thomasville to Mobile is all 4-lane now). Besides, if Interstate 85 is coming through here to tie into Interstates 20 / 59 this side of Meridian, it will negate having to 4-lane US Hwy 80. The speed limit is 70 on interstate vs 65 on divided 4-lane.
