Some explainations of the great pictures posted by Dave:
The cabinet was constructed by the students of the Cabinetmaking Class of the Marengo County Technology Center. The oak was donated by Linden Lumber and the glass was donated by Linden Glass. The hardware was purchased by Marengo Memorial VFW Post 5377. This cabinet would have cost between $1200 and $1800, depending on the material used. Things CAN get done when people work together.
The artwork is the creation of Karen Davidson. Copies of this painting is available at Angel Wing Gallery in Demopolis.
The chair is placed at all of our events to remind us of our POW/MIA comrades who are unable to attend the event. This chair is also present at our Post meeting each month.
We appreciate all who attended the Memorial Day Service.
I was told the veteran in the last picture is Edward Drinkard. The VFW Post Commander stated Mr. Drinkard is one of three living charter members of the Post. The Post was chartered on January 3, 1946.
Also, the painting by Karen will hang on the wall above the display case.
