on april 1 chamber director kathy leverett and other local leaders are holding a meeting at the civic center. the purpose of this meeting is to get community input on a new 3-year plan for the city of demopolis. i'm new to demopolis but will still be attending this meeting so that i can become involved in the community. in the few months i've been here, i've grown somewhat attached to the town. it has wonderfull potential and should take advantage of the riverfront property. the idea of an amphitheater was mentioned(great idea), but i'm curious if anyone has ever brought up the subject of a rivewalk http://www.columbusmainstreet.com/ri...s/DCP00580.jpg http://www.columbusmainstreet.com/ri...s/DCP00584.jpg http://www.columbusmainstreet.com/ri...s/DCP00587.jpg

Interesting Idea. The area around the bluffs could use some definate work. Especially for COTR. I'm actually surprised nothing has really been done so far.
The only problem I can see is that you have to maintain a large distance from the river to prevent from constantly rebuilding due to erosion in the bluffs. I do think it is an excellent idea to do somthing of the nature.....It would give people scenic path to walk....A change of scenery from fosque park
This could a really nice-- If you were to start at Webb Landing and extend it down to the City Landing. And if they were really bold, extend a walking bridge across to the Yacht Basin....But with the flooding issues there, it may be far fetched.
