Linden Mayor / Goodloe vs. Linden City Council
I hope everyone has been keeping up with the recent controversey between Linden Mayor Pat Vice and the Linden City Council. Anywhere else one would have to pay premium price for quality entertainment. This is turning out to be better than any show Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus could have ever produced!
To start with, it seems Lil' Hitler (aka Mayor Pat Vice) has a bone to pick with the City of Linden. Since being elected to office, he has tried his best to deep six Linden. He pulled police protection from those who lived outside city limits but inside police jurisdiction. He notified police officers that anyone responding to any calls outside the city limits where a life was not in imminent danger would be fired on the spot. He threatens and intimidates city employees. HE is the ultimate ruling dictator of Linden. Nobody dare questions his authority. Worst of all, he has Goodloe Sutton advising him on how to perform his mayoral duties and providing legal consultation. Word on the street is that Pat is pissed off at Linden because he lost his previously held office of Mayor several years ago and now it's payback time for the City of Linden. After he has had run of Linden like a bad case of diarrhea, he then plans to retire to Florida.
In an attempt to pre-empt Mayor Vice's attempts at the ruination of Linden, Dennis Breckenridge and the City Council stand up to Lil' Hitler and strip him of his power in a city council meeting. Now, Goodloe Sutton, Editor of the Democrat - Reporter and Legal Aide at Large for Mayor Vice is trying to restore the Mayor to his former glory through the use of his mighty pen. According to Goodloe and his front page legal research, Atty. Braswell hasn't a clue as to what the law is concerning this whole issue nor has he taken time to properly research and CORRECTLY advise the City Council.
To complicate matters even further, the city council is just as meddlesome and stirring as much stink as the Mayor. Several employees (present and past) of the City of Linden have taken various issues to city councilmen rather than following proper channels. There have been a couple of city councilmen who have even made outright attempts at running various city agencies (namely the police department). In most other business environments, this is called INSUBORDINATION. In the military, insubordination will get you court martialled.
So what we have here people, is the greatest injustice to the people of the City of Linden that could ever be done. We have a bunch of clowns running a three-ring circus instead of conducting proper city business in an attempt to keep this city alive and prospering. Time for you guys to quit acting like a bunch of kindergartners with your childish schoolyard BS and get to work! Linden needs new industry and jobs to keep it alive, not more taxes. You are letting valuable jobs that could be coming to Linden go to other counties who apparently have their stuff together and are not cloning around with schoolyard BS during city council meetings.
Time for Goodloe to get back in his newspaper and go root out some more evil in Marengo County instead of trying to practice law without a law license. Goodloe, go sniff out the corruption at the Lying Whitfield Hospital, the Missing Money from the Demopolis Dixie Youth League, or the other half of your Thomaston Fire Mis-Direction story that you failed to get!
Word to COL Department Heads: Disciplinary action is warranted and justified in cases of insubordination. If your employees don't know to bring problems to you rather than taking them to city council members, enlighten them with some paperwork or a place in the unemployment line! If you don't know how to make your employees tow the line, time for you to find another job.
