My Space??
I ran across a few articles regarding MySpace that really disturb me. I know that a few of you have myspace accounts.....are you bothered much by those searching to prey on others? I realize that some common sense should be exercised for sites such as this, but there seems to be a lot of teens and pre-teens that have no concept of being cautious (which may fall under lack of parental supervision). Yes, I remember the thread...and as I stated in it, my kids are blocked from that site as well as a few others.....It just seems that this is becoming more and more common place on that site. Those articles just had me upset, seems everywhere you turn theres sick, twisted, reprobates using the internet more and more to target trusting and unsuspecting children. Even the children seem to be using it to target each other.......

My child cannot get on the internet unless someone is in the room with her. I keep the computer password protected and when she gets on I have all kind of parental controls running. But it is not just MySpace that this is happening to, it is all chat rooms.

You are absolutely right. There are at least 10 more sites almost identical to MySpace and the teens are signed up on almost everyone of them. I also have our computer at home password protected. That may seem harsh since my child is 16 years old. I trust her completely but your age has nothing to do with getting caught up in something or suckered in by these perverts. When I first saw the special about a year ago I started doing a little investigating and I was amazed at what I found. I initially looked at it as a harmless way for the local kids to talk to each other but it is so much more than that. You would be amazed at how many of our local teens are members of these sites and just what kind of information they are putting out there about themselves. If you have children using the internet please, please check into this. They are so innocent and these perverts know exactly what kinds of questions to ask to gain their trust. It's frightening.

Well.. anywhere you go can have a bunch of idiots or predators on it.. but one just needs to be careful on who their 'online' friends are. On my myspace account, I only talk to or be friends with I know in person. Thus the reason I have so little 'friends' on it XD!!

What happen to kids playing outside all the time. When i was little my mom would kick me out until lunch time then tell us to go back out till supper! I didnt mind it a bit, I loved to be outside.... kids need to get off the computer and go play in the woods!

But anyways... keep who you know in real life on it and you'll be quite alright!
