After having a very Merry Christmas, My family and I woke to find our 8yr old hot water heater leaking. Now I know this was the day after Christmas but we started calling PLumbers anyway. We did not expect them to be open but at least have someone on call. We tried several local offfices finding only answering services or machines, but all either had someone supposedly on call or checking the machine for messages. After waiting forever a Gentleman game and did confirm it was the Hot Water Heater. Unfortunately his company does not work on trailers so he could not fix our problem. Now its Saturday and once again we call around for help no one returns our calls. Sunday no hot water.
Monday we tried again after failing three times to find some who worked on trailers. We were saved. I present this tale to say that all these companies either have adds on tv or in the phonebook that state we will answer you calll 24 hours day, then why did it take till Monday and reapeted call to each service to get a response then only to be told we don't work on trailers.

Yeah it was a sad state. I was there during the whole mess and we couldn't get a plumber out there for nothing. They need to change thier policy from open 24 hours to open whenever.

Sorry for your trouble, but their must be some reason they do not work on trailers? Their may be something some one could open a busness to work on trailers and other small jobs? Sounds like their is an opportunity for someone that does not mind small jobs and getting called out all hours. Could probley make a good living.

You know that all hours are subject to change depending on if the person on call gives a damn.If I were you,I'd report the total lack of support to each of the business owners to see if they are aware of this "problem".

I am quite sure all of the plumbers and plumbing companies are very aware of their policies regarding on call and after hours calls. The fact that it was during the holidays and no one wants to work also factors into this equation. It is very hard to find anyone in this town to work on mobile homes when something goes wrong. Most of the time, you will probably wind up with a "do-it-yourself" job, especially where the plumbing is concerned. Then there's the problem of finding someone in town who carries plumbing supplies for mobile homes. ACE Hardware carried all the necessary stuff when it was open in Demopolis, but they were the only one that did. Now they're gone. You just about have to go to Meridian or Tuscaloosa to get plumbing supplies for mobile homes now.

BammaFats, I'm suprised you didn't check with your neighbor across the street to see if he would hire out to fix your problem. He does plumbing work on the side for a reasonable price and is always looking to pick up some easy pocket change.

I feel for you Bammafats. A few years back we had an air compressor die in our AC--this happening dead in the middle of July. I called EVERYONE in the yellow pages until Rice Heating and Cooling finally came out. No one else would even check the problem for a week or more. Rice ordered the compressor express shipment and got it in quick.
