I dont think Bear ever won a National Championship at Kentucky, he did win the SEC title maybe in 1950 at Kentucky when he was 11-1. His overall record at Kentucky in 8 years was 60-23-5, a .710 Pct. And was SEC Coach of the year in 1950.
My apologies! I must have been reading where he won the SEC with both schools! My apologies once again! Roll Tide!!!

Tubby has gotten too old to be starting over--especially at A&M where he'll have a harder time recruiting than here. He'll sign with AU again and play out till his retirement.

The most reasonable explanation I've heard for why he would leave is that a National Championship is more easily attainable in the Big 12 than the SEC -- the level of competition just is not as great.
Why do you think that Tubbs would have a harder time recruiting at A&M, dave. A&M has outstanding facilities and that state is overflowing with talent. I would think it would actually be easier to recruit good talent at TA&M -- where you're competing with UT and OK for a boatload of talent -- than AU, where you're competing against UA and UGA for a small amount of talent.

There is absolutely NO shame in Bama's performance against LSU! Bama was unranked at the beginning of the season. If this had been last year, LSU would have won easily. Even at the beginning of this season, I never expected the Bama/LSU game to be competetive. If Nick Saban can coach Mike Shula's players this well, just wait a couple of years until he is coaching his own recruits.
Kagan, you know I love you like a brother. But rammajamma is right. Even if Auburn wins this year, it won't be as easy as in the past 5 years. Nick Saban is THE most incredible coach in college football. He WILL be the first coach to win a national championship from two schools. Alabama fans who have always honored the names of the Bear and Gene Stallings now have another hero in our glorious, brilliant coach!
(Gosh, I got a little carried away, didn't I? Nick Saban is the greatest thing since Bear Bryant. We love our coach.)
Alabama did play a good game but please.... COMPETETIVE? LSU gave Bama 24 unanswered points between the penalties and turnovers, otherwise it would have been a blowout! Nick Saban is a good coach, but people please... don't put him on the same level as The Bear or the second coming of christ... The Iron Bowl promises, as usual, to be a good ball game.

The game WAS competetive because it appeared that Alabama might win for a large portion of the game. Whenever penalties and turnovers are present, they are always part of the outcome of a game. I consider a game competetive if, during the course of the game, it appears that either team may win.
No, Nick Saban is not the Bear and he certainly isn't "the second coming of Christ." However, he has energized the Tide football program and made the game fun again.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Re: College coaches on the hot seat
The game was competetive Rox, And most people that watched it will agree. LSU "GAVE" us nothing we didint take. Thats part of the game, penalties, turn-overs, etc... Many LSU fans were scrathching their heads when we went up by 10 late in the 3rd Qtr. It just wasnt meant to be, Not this year anyway... ROLL TIDE!!!
'your Dixie's Football Pride, Crimson Tide... ROLL TIDE, ROLL TIDE!!!
