No way Arkansas puts up the 6 million for his contract plus 3.5 million a year. Aren't many schools with pockets that deep, and Arkansas probably isn't one of them.

I have been an Auburn fan my whole life and I do not understand why he would choose to leave his team to go elsewhere. He is a great coach and I am sure that his players have a respectful relationship with him and there would be several people crushed if he did leave and go to another team. Is it not enough that he has beaten Alabama for the past 6 straight years? In my opionion he has a problem if he leaves his team to take on someone new.

For some strange reason many colleges don't have alumni who are qualified coaches. The only Auburn alumni coaches I can think of are Pat Sullivan and the one at Troy. With as many players who have graduated from Auburn, this is incredible. Young coaches don't make much money is one reason I suspect. Colleges aren't loyal to their coaches either. I'm an Auburn fan and Tub may owe loyalty to his players, but he certainly doesn't to the bunch who tried to undercut him several years ago. Not being an alumnus of a respective institution, it's easier to understand their possible lack of loyalty. They get fired more than they quit.

I heard someone at COTR say the the difference between a coach and a fan is that the fan loves the sport and the coach loves the pocket change. Sad to say, but that is probably right. I really hope that he does not leave Auburn. Afterall, Polly and I will be inconsolable (I think that I spelled that wrong - see I am already upset!) without our Tommy.

I will say this much, if he does go - thank God that Nutt is already at Ole Miss!!!!

NEW YORK - Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville indicated a resolution with Auburn could come relatively soon as he ducked in and out of National Football Foundation events in a chipper mood Monday.

He said he was "honored" Auburn offered him a contract extension last week, and said he will work to take care of his assistant coaches.

Hours later, Arkansas, which sources told The News was a potential suitor as late as a few days ago, saw three candidates it interviewed for its head coaching job published on a newspaper Web site in that state. Tuberville was not on that list.
