Re: DEMOP vs CARVER (REMATCH)
I really think it's going to come down to stopping the running game and not turning the ball over. I don't believe that we can afford even one turnover against Carver. Carver has a very fast offense, and I agree with Ryan completely that this is not the same Demopolis team that got beat by Carver. The Tigers have really stepped up their game late in the season. Our secondary has really beefed up its coverage as of late with Larry Cobb being the player of the game last week against Shelby County (congrats Larry!). I believe one of the main keys of success to the Tigers winning and stopping Carvers running game is going to be to make sure we make tackles. As you all know I'm at every game and enjoy every minute of it. I've seen so many guys trying to make the big hits and miss those tackles. Wrapping them up is the key to a good tackle. Now, I like a boom-shacka-lack (Mike and Mike's phrase for big hit) just as much as the next guy, but as quick as Carver is we have got to make the stops on the first contact and not let them get those extra yards when we miss the tackles. Our offensive line will have a job ahead of them Friday night as well because if our running game is going to be a success we have got to open up the holes in the D-line to let Demarcus, Kirby, Speegle, and Rick through. We have one of the most dangerous offenses that I've seen of any team we've played so far; Coach Causey knows how to run it and the assistant coaches are marvalous at making it happen. Although I love the spread, I was impressed when Coach Causey switched up the game play and went back into the old school I formation against Shelby County. Jacob just pounded the ball up the middle and we marched down the field multiple times late in that game. I think the spread is going to be the winner in the Carver game, and our option plays have to keep Carver on their toes and not let Carver rest. They are a good team but I believe the Tigers are stronger in this one.
21-20 Tigers Win!
Also, congradulations to Brooker for another perfect game in point after tries!
