Demopolis native Andy Phillips was recalled from AAA Columbus to the New York Yankees today to replace the injured Kevin Brown who went on the 15 day DL.
Since Brown is a starting pitcher, Phillips would most likely be in a fill-in roll until his return.

I wish he could stay this time. He's such a deserving and talented young man. I think they won't trade him because they know just how good he really is and they don't want to play against him but they have these other higher paid people like Kevin Brown that they have to play. I don't want anyone to be hurt but I sort of hope that Kevin stays out for a while and Andy gets his chance. Just my opinion.
Resolution #1 - This year I vow to stop mailing drier lint to the kid who dumped me in 2nd grade ~~ Really...I'm over it.
He was called up on Sat. afternoon while in Bama. He made it to Sundays nights game against the BoSox; even caught a glimpse of him on ESPN2.
If you get a chance, go to www.mlb.com and then go to the Yankees team site and look at his stats from Spring Training; he put up some awesome numbers which would of cinched a starting position on any other major league team in the AL or NL but the Yanks have a extremely tough farm system to get out of an make it to the "Big Show"(Lots of Talent). Word on the forums is he is possibly going to be used as trade bait unless Giambi of Tino screws up or gets injured, in which he should be the next in line to platoon 1st base with either one.
Go Andy Go,,,,,,,,,,,Keep Your Head Held High!!!!!!!!!!
Unless ARod gets hit by a bus he has no shot at getting to 3rd base.
His best shot at a starting position is 2nd, if Womack cannot keep a decent OBP. Problem there is Womack is a leadoff hitter, whereas Phillips would be more a 5th or 6th candidate.

Just quoting what I had READ. Obviously I am not the team manager, owner, or otherwise in control of who does what. Personally, I really don't care. I lost it for MLB when they pulled their first strike years ago.

I could see where you got the info. I happen to love baseball and tend to pay attention to these type of things--especially when a hometown boy is involved.
I was adding to your reference to the lineup. ARod (Alex Rodriguez) makes some $25 million a year, not to mention he's one of the best in the game at the plate.

Yankees place RHP Kevin Brown
on 15-day disabled list
Recall INF Andy Phillips from Triple-A Columbus
The New York Yankees announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Kevin Brown on the 15-day disabled list with a strained back and recalled infielder Andy Phillips from Triple-A Columbus.
Phillips, 27, earned the 2005 James P. Dawson Award as the Yankees' top rookie in Spring Training, batting .333 (13-for-39) with 4 HR, 13 RBI and tying a team-high with 14 runs scored in 24 games. He was the recipient of the Kevin Lawn "Minor-League Player of the Year" Award in 2004, leading all Yankees' minor leaguers with a .321 average and 101 RBI. On September 26, 2004 at Boston, Phillips hit a pinch-hit, two-run home run in his first Major League at-bat, becoming just the third player in franchise history to homer in his first Major League at bat. This will be his first appearance on a Major League Opening Day roster.
Brown, 40, was 1-2 with a 6.66 ERA in six starts with the Yankees this spring (25.2IP, 35H, 20R, 19ER, 10BB, 21K, 5HR). In 22 starts for the Yankees in 2004, he was 10-6 with a 4.09 ERA.
